Welcome to Andrea's Kitchen!

The namesake for this site is a recipe I've eaten all my life.  I absolutely love this pie.

It's got a pretty cool legend about it being served to Harry S. Truman while he was president.  I have no idea if it's true or not, but it just adds to the awesomeness of this dish.  Master Chief Steward Harry Hightower served this pie to President Harry S. Truman aboard the USS Missouri.  President Truman loved the pie so much that he asked Mr. Hightower for the recipe.  Mr. Hightower refused the President, telling him that it was a family secret.  When Harry Hightower retired from the US Navy in 1970 he decided to finally share this recipe and it was published in a US Navy newspaper.
